teroknortailor:

a cool bit about Queen Amidala and her handmaidens:

The Queen speaks in a dialect and uses an accent specific to Naboo royalty.

Her Handmaidens do not.

Whenever a Handmaiden poses as her to be a decoy, they adopt the dialect and accent. Thus, the actual sound of her voice becomes equally important in disguise. Padmé

does not speak in the Royal Dialect, and neither do any other handmaidens, but Queen Amidala does.

This is a whole other layer to the decoy thing, with clothing, makeup, and posture being just three more layers of what the Handmaidens do to protect the life of their Queen. More layers include duplicating mannerisms, general preference, and basically playing the character of Queen Amidala as Padme has built herself up to be in the role. Literally the toughest acting job in the world.

However, when

Padmé

becomes senator, she loses the dialect and makeup of a Nabooian royal – therefore making her handmaidens’ job that much harder in being decoys. Being Senator Amidala is actually more dangerous than being Queen Amidala.

There exists so much trust between Padmé and her Handmaidens, and they keep that trust until the very end.

I am constantly SO IN AWE of these women and the power that they hold in the Star Wars universe.

SO IN AWE.
