I recently had the pleasure of illustrating the cover for Adventure Time #38, which is available to pre-order from your local comic book shop now. Here’s a quick step by step of how I tackled the job!
1.I came up with some rough thumbnails showing different ideas for the cover. As the topic was totally open and I could draw whatever I wanted, I think this was the hardest part of the process.
2.I drew a neater version of the rough to get everything nailed down and as ready for colour as possible.
3.A quick colour rough of the machine – the character’s pre-existing colours were then selected and tweaked based on this scheme.
4. Much painting later, the cover is finished!
