Rory and River have an underrepresented relationship. He’s her father, but he never raised her — one day he just finds out the Doctor’s rather unpredictable wife is actually his kidnapped daughter and he will never actually get to be a father to his child. And I don’t think either of them know exactly how to handle that relationship, but here you see his face as he watches his daughter get shot at.
