Pirates of the Caribbean 3
That ending really got to me for some reason. I don’t know why. On the way home I was thinking a) What happens to Elizabeth when she gets old and Will is still immortal- and what happens when she dies? and b) In two years, that’s the second woman left behind on a beach while the man she can no longer have leaves her. Hmmmm. (Although I prefer Elizabeth to Rose, I reckon, she was fantastic throughout the film. And she’s a Pirate King!)
Bah. I don’t know. Left me feeling a bit down, though…and Norrington bloody died, too! I liked him. (and I have a feeling I’m not alone. :p)
Damn, I wish I’d stayed for after the credits. I read on IMDB that apparently the writers intended for that after-credits scene to mean that Will is mortal again, because Elizabeth has been faithful to him, but I’m not sure, it all seemed a bit garbled…
It was a good movie though, don’t get me wrong! And very surreal. It has a boat full of Captain Jacks, a giant sea goddess, rocks turning into crabs, men turning into sea monsters…I can’t wait to see the essays that come out of this one…

*nods* That’s why I was crying away at the end! Although I hadn’t thought of Will becoming mortal again–hmm, that could be supported by the “green flash” which as Gibbs tells us means a soul or person has escaped death? Hmmm. The crabs were fantastic.

I was a bit flaily when Norrington died, but since Barbossa got to come back from the dead and get his ship and crew back? It was a glorious ending for me, yes.

Norrrrrrrrrrryyyyyyyyyyyy nooooooooooooooooo ;_________________________; One of my Pokémon at the moment is called Norrington. He is level 52 and kicks arse. But now when I play it I just think “WOE D:” I loved the crabs. That whole scene with the ship and Jacks and desert and rockcrabs was brill.

I stayed for after the credits, and yeah. (If people don’t want spoilers, don’t read the rest of this comment.) So what’s supposed to happen if after ten years of ferrying the dead to the final resting place, the captain of the Dutchman returns to shore and the woman he loves finds him, then the curse is broken and he’s mortal again (although I don’t know how that works what with the “Dutchman always needs a captain” thing.) Ergo, Will returns and Elizabeth’s there, with her ten-year-old son =D (/end spoiler) Major squee XD That is all.

I was soooo infinitely satisfied with how it ended. :D Oh, my gosh. I am appeased. But I’ve never much been plugging for Will, so I guess I would be satisfied. Aww, yes, but I was sad to see Norrington go too. :< As soon as he was all like "Aww… *regret*" it was like, one horrible redemptive death to go please?

God, the surrealism – did you feel as disoreintated as I did with Jack on the boat, and the bloody stone crab things? My God, that bit of the movie lasted forever, and not because it was bad, but because it was so… weird! 0_o The plot was confusing, but I thoroughly enjoyed the film, and the ending really surprised me – I have so much respect for them for doing that. And was Elizabeth taking cues from Barbossa or what? She worked so well with him (considering their animosity in Curse of the Black Pearl, they worked exceptionally well together). I dare say he was almost proud of her by the end. Geoffrey Rush was awesome – I’m so glad they brought him back. I might have to go and see it again, just to let it all sink in.
