Doctor Who: The Idiot’s Lantern
After the episode and Confidental finished, I was thinking to myself ‘What can I say about that? Not much really happened…’ Then I realised that was what made it pretty good: so much has happened in the show over the past four or five episodes that it was nice to have a break- a light episode for once. XD
-I loved Rose in this. Was actually quite disappointed to see people bashing her on OG afterwards. I sometimes do get the feeling, though, that the writers aren’t quite sure what to do with her these days…but I hope they prove me wrong.
-Only one instance of RagingMad!Doctor. That was rather interesting. And a tad concerning. Not sure what to make of it…
-I liked that the mad bullying father got thrown out at the end, but I also loved that Rose made Tommy go to him. Twas a nice little character moment.
-No mention of Mickey, woe. :( But then again, no mention of Reinette or Sarah Jane for three episodes, and no mention of Jack for about eight. :(
-RTD’s comment at the end of Confidential was rather…omnious….especially considering it was only the other day he said that the ‘heading for a fall’ thing was all wrong. I think he likes messing with our heads.
-Have attempted to do a episode ranking for this series. It was harder than I thought, but have come up with:
1- School Reunion (but only just- I adored T&C, but gave this one the edge as it had Mickey and Sarah Jane in it)
2- Tooth and Claw
3- Rise of the Cybermen
4- The Idiot’s Lantern
5- New Earth
6- the Age of Steel (and the only reason this is ranked so low is ‘cos it was Mickey’s last episode- yes, it was a good ending, BUT STILL A BLOODY ENDING!)
7- The Girl In The Fireplace (though I suspect I may like it a lot more when I watch it again; incidentally, I must get to work on a Reinette fic I have in mind.)
BTW, no-one fancied any music? Have unlocked the post just in case…

True! (Still, though…if we get to the last episode and still no mention of Jack or Mickey, I will be most displeased…) ;)

In my case if we get to the last episode and they do mention Jack, well squee doesn’t come close.

What did RTD say at the end of Confidential? (I don’t have freeview at uni oh woe.)

Twas something along the lines of ‘They’re started to get overconfident…someone’s going to pay the price for all this.’ Then a few quick shots of Rose and the Doctor and then the credits rolled- he didn’t elaborate. Bah. :p If my memory serves me right, anyway. :)

RTD’s comment at the end of Confidential was rather…omnious….especially considering it was only the other day he said that the ‘heading for a fall’ thing was all wrong. I think he likes messing with our heads. I noticed that, too; he denied it in Doctor Who Magazine then restated it in Confidential. Weird. I prefer the Confidential interpretation, because it makes me feel like he has a clue what he’s doing. I liked this episode, too. It wasn’t as good as ‘The Unquiet Dead’, but it was funny and scary and well-paced.

I noticed that, too; he denied it in Doctor Who Magazine then restated it in Confidential. I have a feeling it will turn out to be a Big Thing at the end of the season. *nods* Let’s hope they do it right…
