H/H etc
I was just reading the H/H shipper’s reaction to the JKR interview and it got me thinking. Was there really any way that she could have said ‘Harry and Hermione aren’t going to happen’ without offending somebody somewhere? Because she did say it in previous interviews, several times…I think it honestly was sunk for good somewhere before even OOTP.
(I’m not really a shipper of anything much, by the way. I make icons of various ships, but that’s about it really)
This is fast becoming the Ship War That Ate Fandom, and I wish it wasn’t. It seems like everyone’s pissed off at something at the moment.
EDITed because I can’t keep my mouth shut…I honestly never saw why shipping was such a big deal, anyway. I mean, to me it seems like arguing for years over whether Harry should be Quidditch captain or not- it never seemed that important to me.

I don’t get it either. It seems like who ends up with who is about as important as the Quiddich cup in the end.

It seems like everyone’s pissed off at something at the moment. I know what you mean! Add me to the list of people who Just Don’t Get the Ship Wars. Glad to know I’m not alone! :)

I think I might have laughed when I heard about this, before I realised that people seriously *were* taking this to heart! I’ve always felt that character shipping was always closely related to fanfic – it was something that appealed to you and which you might write about, but it was never necessarily canon – but now, in HP at least, it seems to be. There are a lot of Obidala shippers in the SW fan circuit, for example, but none of them got riled up about there never being anything between the two chars on-screen. I think people need to chill and remember they’re not the ones telling the story! *shakes head* and there *is* always fanfic – that’s where I turn if I think I’d like to see a part of a book/film/TV show go a different way.
