Because I should be able to watch TV without a) hearing men joke about how women like/deserve rape, b) seeing trans women presented as jokes, c) seeing women be judged on their looks rather than their accomplishments or d) seeing gratuitous scenes of sexual assault where the intent was clearly just to get a woman in a state of undress #yesallwomen

For most of my school life I was pretty damn ugly – spots, greasy hair, you name it – so when I first started to get wolf-whistled/catcalled, my first reaction was to be flattered rather than freaking out that grown men appeared to be expressing interest in a teenager #yesallwomen
I still vividly remember the moment when I was listening to the radio, they were talking about rape, the victim was asked by the male host ‘what’s the lesson here’ and the lesson, as it turned out, was NOT actually ‘don’t rape people’ #yesallwomen
