Can I just say that one thing I absolutely love about 10 Cloverfield Lane is how it takes all these things which are considered symbols of feminine frivolousness and turns them into weapons or aids for Michelle. Girly fashion magazines? Sewing? Fashion design? Michelle uses all of them to save herself, and Howard never suspects what’s going on until it’s too late, because it never once occurs to him that femininity can be strong.
