The Original X-Men by Suwi
“Do you know what happens to a toad when it’s struck by lightning?…………. The same thing that happens to everything else”
this is the worst one-liner I’ve heard in my entire life holy shit
I heard it was a running thing that Toad would say “do you know what happens when a toad blah blah blah” and then Storm’s line pays that off
but then they cut the set=up
I heard according to Joss Whedon, Halle Berry was meant to deliver that line in a cheerful jokey way, but something happened somewhere and she didn’t
(the first X-Men is still a really good movie though)
You know, an R-rated Deadpool film is well and good, but I kind of want to see Wade show up in one of the regular X-Men films, too.
I want to see him hastily catch himself every time he’s about to say “fuck”, because he knows that the film – being rated PG-13 – is only allowed one F-bomb, and he wants to make it count.
I want to see him throw the ugliest tantrum when, after he spends the whole movie saving up that one allotted “fuck” for the perfect moment, somebody else uses it up before he has a chance.
And that someone is Wolverine.
I so love that this is completely possible in upcoming films
Wade: Everyone knowns PG-13 mean you only get one f-bomb. Gotta use it wisely.
Wolverine: What the fuck are you talking about?
After decades of using mutants as a metaphor for an oppressed minority that we should love and respect, Joe Quesada mandates the Decimation event, in which a vast majority of the Marvel universe’s mutants are depowered and there are in the low three digits of mutants left. What made it worse is the justification. Quesada claimed Marvel had to decimate the mutant population because Grant Morrison had established that there were millions of mutants across the globe, and that in Quesada’s eyes, that meant the Fantastic Racism element no longer worked. Specifically, he pointed out that mutants were supposed to be victims of bigotry, and yet had their own neighborhoods, culture, music, and even languages. In real life, many minority groups have all those things and yet still suffer discrimination from the majority, meaning there’s no reason mutants couldn’t have numbered in the millions and still have been targeted by normal humans. Quesada’s explanation is tantamount to saying that black people, Asian people, Latino people, or LGBT people no longer experience discrimination because “Hey, at least they have their own neighborhoods and pop culture figures!”

The scientist in Charles is just appalled.
“Even if mutants survive radiation poisoning, which we will not, we still have to EAT, you utter knobs! They don’t call it ‘nuclear winter’ because it gives rise to lush and verdant crops! All the food and water would be contaminated! Did you gits think about this at all?”
