watership down

Meet one of my most treasured possessions. This is my mother’s childhood copy of Watership Down, now held together by sellotape. Both our names are in it, hers in 1976 and mine in 2001. (Awww, look at the Noughties smiley face emoji and the heart in there.) I think Mum got it from America but I’d have to ask her.

I can’t decide whether I’m more honored to have been able to work on a poster for Watership Down (maybe my favorite creative work of all time?), to have it released by Black Dragon Press (who have been responsible some of the most beautiful posters out there), or to have my design drop alongside Jes Seamans’ poster (which is totally stunning, like everything else she touches).
These go on sale this week through Black Dragon Press: http://blackdragonpress.co.uk

When I was little, I remember reading in Watership Down that if a female rabbit was pregnant and didn’t want to be, it would just sort of… self-abort the fetus. I wonder if humans had the ability to to that, if it would make life easier or harder?
