Sunken Warship Vasa- Stockholm, Sweden: November 2015. 17th Flagship on the Swedish Fleet, Sunk in 1628 during the maiden voyage. Recovered in 1961 and preserved.
God I love this
Fun fact aboutthe Vasa ship:
It sunk 30 minutes into it’s maiden voyage, and they fucking lost it for 300 years. Someone must have seen it and gone “Ah! I will put a X on the map where all they shiny stuff sank!” But nooo.
Sweden’s first ever live TV broadcast was from when they brought it up in 1961.
Recently they made replicas of the cannons, just to see how badass they were, and they could shoot through a oak wall 1 meter thick without much effort.
If they hadn’t fucked it up, Sweden would have kicked some major ass.
And the person who built the wall in the video, and who is the master carpenter at Vasa, is a LADY.
Also, I work in the tourist infomation down the street.
