That is, unless Moffat writes one of the initial (if it’s a hit, surely there will be more) eight. But the press release makes it sound like this is more Ness’ gig the way RTD was executive producer of TW and SJA, but didn’t do much writing for them himself. Which makes sense, since he’s got two of the BBC’s flagship shows that he’s running/co-running. -mewiet

I really hope it can be used as a springboard to get a lot more writers out there!

No, he’s not writing it, Ness is. (Although I hope Ness doesn’t write all eight initial episodes. I’d prefer him as lead writer and then get some women and/or POC writers penning episodes as well. The biggest downside for me is that it’s another white man in charge/writing episodes. We need diversity behind the scenes too.) But Moffat is listed as an executive producer alongside Ness and Minchin. -mewiet

Thought so, but wasn’t positive!

I can’t believe they haven’t asked children’s author Malorie Blackman (who wrote a Seventh Doctor novel) to do anything! She’d be perfect!
