Save the Linslade Post Office

I, er, have a small favour to ask of all you kindly people out there.

The government has been closing thousands of post offices in the UK, and recently my local one, the Linslade Post Office, has been put on the list for closure. If it was closed, it would disadvantage a great many people, many of whom are elderly and disabled and for obvious reasons not wanting to travel the extra distance to get to the post office on the other side of town.

I know the people who own the Linslade Post Office, and some of their customers, and they’re all very nice people, so I volunteered this online petition. (They’ve got a petition to sign in their shop, too, but I don’t imagine many of you guys frequent there…:p)

So if you want to sign it, the petition is here. :)

Hey, y’all.

I’m back in my hometown now. I’m doing a bit of spring cleaning around here; there’s been some defriendings because my friendslist has grown to the point it’s getting unmanageable. Sorry. I always feel bad defriending people. Eep.

State of my brain may be improving slightly. I don’t know. It’s hard to tell.

There will be icons later. Stay tuned. :)

Aquarium pictures

For those who like looking at sharks. :D

A selection of sharks. One of these was at every window we went to, watching with those dead, sharky eyes…

Assorted fish. Mostly of the brightly coloured variety. :)

Jellyfish! The ones in the last photo were in a tank with mirrors on the side, so it looked like a big jellyfish kalidoscope

That’s it for the aquarium, but I hope you enjoyed. :D

Yo, world. I’ve been gone for a week-and-a-half ‘cos I’ve been moving into a house with my boyfriend and some mates, so I’m sorry if I’ve missed anything important. :)

There will be picspam of the house too, quite possibly…

Woke up this morning to find myself deaf in one ear. Le sigh.

I thought I’d give y’all an update on my real life: I have found myself a job. In a cinema, no less. I have now seen the closing credits to Transformers around 12 times without ever seeing the film itself. But I now have money. And soon will be able to see films for free. Which rocks.

Anyway. I gotta go attend to my ear…

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows

God, it feels like the end of an era…

When me and my friends were queueing, we listed most of the characters and gave them marks out of 10 for how likely we thought they would be to die. My rankings were as follows:

Snape: 9
Lupin: 4
Harry: 8
Ron: 3
Hermione: 3
Hagrid: 9
Ginny: 3
Fred: 2
George: 2
Lucius: 9
Bellatrix: 9
Neville: 9
Luna: 2
Peter: 10

How wrong was I? Tonks wasn’t even on the list! Awwwwwww, I get depressed just thinking about it now. :( I think Fred was the worst. I would never have predicted that, much too horrible. I know that’s what it’s like in war, that it is horrible, but still. Wah. :(

Anyway. I strongly suspect that Draco was the character given a ‘reprieve’, and I was actually quite glad to see him alive at the end. I’d never have said that towards the beginning of the series, but still. And I’m really quite pleased that Narcissa got one ‘good’ moment. And that some progress was made on the Slytherins Are Not All Evil front.

Did not like what Hermione did to her parents. Not at all.

Liked the epilogue alright, although I think I may be the only one…

Oh, and ‘NOT MY DAUGHTER, YOU BITCH!’ is the best line in the whole series.

We were at Waterstones in Milton Keynes. It was awesome. And we weren’t too far down the queue either- I was number 298. And there was coffee and people selling t-shirts and cookies and it was jolly good, indeed.

Which reminds me- moving away from HP for a sec- before heading to Waterstones, me and a friend went to see Hairspray, and it’s REALLY good. See it if you can!

Anyway- I had my camera, here’s some pictures:

The books, at last. :D

And now…I’m gonna sit back and watch the explosions.

My brother apparently saw Pete Docherty in a motorway service station. He was surrounded by bodyguards, so I hear. (Pete Docherty, not my brother)

I can’t believe the last Harry Potter is tomorrow. It’s a weird thought. My first encounter with the books was at a school book fair when I couldn’t have been much older than eleven. Damn.

I’m off to the HP party at Waterstones in Milton Keynes tonight. No-one else is going there, are they? :D
