I think the thing about the nastiness surrounding Adam Driver’s looks that gets to me (sorry, this is still on my mind) isn’t actually Adam Driver himself. I don’t know him, he seems nice enough but I don’t know him, and anyway he’s got the media on his side to defend him. It’s just like –
– when you’re reading about Adam Driver and you see comments like ‘ewww’ ‘fucking gross’ ‘I just threw up’ that sort of thing, you just start to wonder – alright, you think he’s ugly and you’re not afraid to say so, we get it. So how do you treat people with facial disfigurements? People who are unable, through disability, to conform to beauty standards? People who are fat, people who lost their teeth, people who have skin conditions, how do you feel about them?
How far does it actually go, you choosing to attack someone over something they have no control over?
