The Hermione of “Cursed Child” is a Woman of Color – and That’s Amazing

“Harry Potter” fans have a lot of feelings about the upcoming play “Harry Potter and the Cursed Child,” which will follow Harry’s son Albus as he navigates living with the legacy of his father. The play, which premieres this summer on London’s West End and will be told in two consecutive installments, caused mayhem when tickets went on sale in October, with many fans waiting hours in long online queues only to ultimately face sold-out shows. Many feel that the limited availability of the play – only fans in the UK or wealthy enough to travel there will be able to see it when it premieres – is a detriment, but that hasn’t stopped the show from selling a TON of tickets.

Hermione’s last minute study crunch before exams!

okay I’m gonna reblog this again because last time I didn’t say what I thought about this picture

I LOVE THIS SO MUCH. This makes the universe of Harry Potter so much more magical than I ever dreamed it to be. In the movies and books it’s like an average library with magic books, but this picture shows a Hogwarts alive and brimming with magic. The shelves are impossibly tall because you can enchant stuff to help you reach, so why SHOULDN’T the shelves be huge? I love the girls walking on books like stairs, the cat who got caught on a flying book, Hermione sitting on a book like a chair, everyone’s casual confidence in their unbelievable magic because it’s natural to them. It’s part of their everyday lives. I love the Harry Potter world so much that it hurts, and this picture is gorgeous and makes me relive the magic I have loved since I was little.

OH MY GOSH I JUST REALIZED THEYRE ALL HERMIONE. THE ONE SLEEPING ON THE sHELF OMG

do you think after Ron and Hermione got out of the trapdoor and raised the alarm and were being patched up in the hospital wing

do you think they were given the most royal proud mama smackdown by McGonagall like “ how DARE you infiltrate a death maze you are ELEVEN and miss granger how on earth did you solve my chessboard i”

and hermione interjected like “oh professor it wasn’t me. i’m useless at chess. it was ron.”

and McGonagall turned to look at Ron Weasley in total amazement at this 11 yr old kid who had been pretty ordinary in all her classes but had apparently beaten her in death chess and he just shrugged like “rookie mistakes, professor. you made some rookie mistakes.”

I’m still very, very weirded out by what JKR said about Ron/Hermione. That whole thing feels like when you’re a grown-up and your parents suddenly divorce. Why weren’t there any signs? How could people have changed so much in a short space of time? Why did the relationship always seem so strong if it wasn’t? And so on.
