Oh, I’m going to like the Tenth Doctor.

In other news: The Mickey fanlisting. :D
(This is just in my opinion, obviously. :) )
How much I loved the episodes, most to least-
-End of the World
-Dalek
-The Empty Child
-Bad Wolf
-Father’s Day
-The Doctor Dances
-The Parting of the Ways
-Aliens of London
-The Unquiet Dead
-World War Three
-Boomtown
-Rose
-The Long Game
What’re your lists, then, people? :D
SO!
-The BAD WOLF being written on the ground, wonderfully creepy…I want that as an icon. :D
-Mickey. Mickey, poor Mickey. :( Rose doesn’t love him anymore- he’s still nothing to her even after the events of Boomtown (Well, maybe not nothing, but it seems that way). And he helps her anyway. Oh, how could you not love him after that?
-Jack! *fans self* My god- he uses about three different guns on the Daleks, fighting to the last- and then when finally he hasn’t got anything else he just looks them in the er, eyes and raises his chin defiantly. I never disliked Jack, but this episode made me love him. :D
-And all the kissing! I knew it was going to happen, but it didn’t disappoint. And the Doctor/Jack had a proper kiss! :D
-Rose was so creepy as the Bad Wolf. She even looked kinda wolfish. :D
-Evil, evil Daleks killing the people downstairs. :(
-My first regeneration. :D
And one more thing: it’s not that Rose and the Doctor forgot about Jack…they just thought that he was dead along with the others on the station. He’ll be back, I expect. ;)
It’s not long till 7pm…
…although it seems like it. :p
I was wondering if there was any reason the BBC DW website people picked Spider-Man 2 for Rose’s favourite movie (well, I’m assuming it’s them behind those profiles on website version 12, and not RTD or anyone…) and then it hit me- the hero of that movie is called Peter, just like Rose’s dad.
I love the BBC Doctor Who site. Seriously. :D
This has definately been my favourite two-parter so far. :D
-The twist with Nancy? I went onto the spoiler forums beforehand and read about it, but I thought it would probably turn out not true. But it did! And it worked really well.
-Rose…eh…she didn’t do very much in this episode. Still, Mickey’s back next week, so hopefully there’ll be something there…
-I loved the bit with the typewriter. Loved loved loved. Terrifically creepy. :D
And believe it or not, that’s about all I wanted to say. ;)
Oh wow, I loved this one.
Been a pretty good week for my fandoms, hasn’t it? ;)
I loved Nancy. She’s terrific, and would have made a good companion. :)
I loved the gas-mask-taking-over-the-face bit…it was horrific but just the right side of unbelievable, y’know?
I loved, loved, loved the Doctor and the homeless kids. Especially him just taking the chicken and everyone gasping.
I loved the Doctor’s conversation with the Empty Child paralleling Rose’s conversation with the Dalek (that may me me seeing things that aren’t there, though.)
I loved ‘Who did you lose?’ and ‘I know the feeling.’ Actually, that last one ripped my heart out, in a good way. ;)
Rating so far: End of the World, Dalek, The Empty Child, Father’s Day, Aliens of London, The Uniquiet Dead, WWIII, Rose, The Long Game.
And I switched channels and saw the end of The Phantom Menace afterwards, too. :)
So, where to begin?
Rose’s dad-
I love Rose’s dad. I also love that Rose finds out her parent’s marriage wasn’t exactly ideal.
The Doctor and Rose-
Y’know what? I think he was going to leave her. He may have said later that he wasn’t, but he put the key in the TARDIS door…if he can leave Adam on Earth, why can’t he leave Rose, who’s done almost the same trick of ‘making the universe serve you’ or whatever he said?
Although maybe he can’t…maybe if he had left her, he’d have come back…he’s lost his entire family, and she’s pretty much his family now. Heck, he’s even treating Jackie the same way you’d treat, say, the cousin who you think is a bit thick…he’s becoming more and more tied to Rose, the Tylers and Earth.
This might not be a bad thing…
The Doctor-
I loved him in this episode. From telling the wedding couple that they were important, to actually dying to get rid of the Reaper (did he know he’d come back, though?)…
It jumps out at you a bit, that scene with the wedding couple, though. One minute the Doctor is calling humans ‘stupid apes’ and the next he’s making a connection with two of them who he’s never met. He seems to like humans fine individually, just not in general. (which seems fair enough, I suppose- heck, it’s not as if a lot of us don’t think the same thing)
‘I’m the oldest thing in the room.’ -that’s going in my sig.
I don’t know what the plan was with the TARDIS, but I sort of liked that- he wanted everyone to remain alive and not suffer, and he couldn’t think of anything but wanted to so much. Of course he could’ve gone to Pete and told him he had to go jump under the car, but could you do that to someone you’d just met, who was the father of your best friend?
The rest-
I can’t believe I didn’t realise that little kid was Mickey…
The Reapers are hands down the best monsters so far. (Daleks don’t count) :p
Bad Wolf: one of my brothers actually spotted it this time- it’s written on a poster at the beginning…
Hmmmm.
So, the basic plot of this one (exploding aliens aside)- Adam turns out to be a bit of a nitwit, and the Doctor decides he’d rather have Rose instead. He does in fact spend most of the episode complimenting her, is decidedly crueller to Adam than he really needed to be, and at the end of the episode both of ’em actually come off as rather dislikable.
…and personally I think it’s building up to something. Father’s Day, to be exact. :D During the trailer, there’s a bit where the Doctor says ‘I did it again, picked up another stupid ape.’ and it looks like he’s talking to Rose. Adam messes about trying to change the future, and now Rose is going to mess about trying to change the past- she may not be the ideal companion either, simply because she is human, and humans are ruled by their emotions, be it self-interest (Adam) or love (Rose).
And yeah. But leaving Adam like that- not especially smart, I reckon. Is it just me, or is this definately beginning to have the feeling of one of those ‘only the strong survive’ fairytales? (And it is beginning to seem a bit like a fairytale, albeit a very modern one) ;)
I’m (still) fascinated by CE’s Doctor. You get the feeling you really, really don’t want to get on the wrong side of him. He has absolutely zero tolerance for greed or stupidity, and yet you get the feeling that he’s only just sane himself. And he appears to be grinning a lot less.
Rose…as I said, I think she’s being set up for a fall. Roll on next episode. :)
Two other random things: 1) Simon Pegg was good, as always, and 2) What happened to the thing about Suki being one of Rose’s friends from school, somehow kept alive all these years? Read that one in a magazine, I guess it was just a rumor…
Oh, all right, 3) We’ve had Simon Pegg, now I want Martin Freeman in an episode, dangnabbit.
Oh, and my ranking so far: End of the World, Dalek, Aliens of London, WW3, The Unquiet Dead, Rose, The Long Game. (This might change after I get the DVDs and can watch them again, though.)
I don’t have a new favourite, but I do now have a new second-favourite. :) Looking at last week’s episode, and then looking at this one, you practically wouldn’t have thought they were part of the same series (apart from that bloke in leather running around). This one was dark. Hardly any humour, but one heck of a lot of angst…
That being said, the hairdryer joke was funny. ;)
First off: the Bad Wolf reference (the name of the helicopter- Bad Wolf 1)…nah, nothing to say here. I’m stumped. Maybe this one’s a red herring. (Then again, someone suggested it was something that was chasing the Doctor through time and leaving clues, or something…that’s pretty good.)
And secondly, wow! at all the angsty stuff. Can barely begin to describe it all, to be honest…I mean, he left Rose behind. He trapped her outside. He just left her. And he’d had a conversation with her mother, and he was risking her life…
‘You would make a fine dalek.’
That was actually rather true, by that point. *wibble* I love CE’s Doctor. You just get the feeling he could be such a great good guy, if only it wasn’t for the war (Gallifrey going BOOM…) XD Dammit, I want to see the rest of this without having to wait. *pout*
Still can’t get over him leaving her outside, though. Oh, I hope we get the fallout from that…
Other highlights:
‘I MADE it happen!’
‘Sorry I was a bit slow…it wasn’t your fault.’
‘Not by choice.’
‘I win.’
And many, many more…oh, and ‘Fantastic’ never sounded so chilling before.
