brian williams

I just realised something… If the Doctor never goes back to tell Brian what happened to the Ponds after next week’s episode… Brian will never stop watering their plants.

sherbetsheppertonsfluffer:

And this thought makes me cry.

Because Brian is dilligent, he said so himself, if he promises to do something he will keep doing it until he’s told not to.

And there won’t be anyone there to tell him not to.

I’M DONE

Brian Williams- what we know so far! (Contains references to deleted scenes and probably some wild speculation as well)

-He’s a retired schoolteacher (source: DWM)

-He’s gonna be in The Power Of Three as well (source: DWM)

-The Doctor refers to him as a member of the Pond family (not explicitly said, but hinted here.)

-He’s divorced from Rory’s mother- or he might be: a deleted scene in Vampires Of Venice had a reference to Rory’s stepmum, and there was also an interview with Arthur a couple of years where he stated Rory’s parents were divorced, but I can’t for the life of me find it anywhere. Nothing’s set in concrete, anyway, so who knows what the state of his marriage is…

-Rory’s referenced his dad only once before, in a deleted scene from Cold Blood:

Rory to Alaya: What do your people believe? I mean, do you have a god?
Alaya: A deity for simple-minded apes.
Rory: I should’ve put you in a room with my dad. He’d soon put you right on that.

Which I always found very interesting, wondering what Rory’s dad relationship with religion was, and therefore what Rory’s relationship with religion was, and how that reconciled with his lack of faith in The God Complex…but I can’t see it being brought up again, alas.

Rory Williams character study: I don’t know what he said to you to make you marry him

Brian was a late addition to Rory’s story, but in his very first scene, it’s clear he may be the root of Rory’s Amy-related insecurities (of which there are many.)

We know Brian’s fantastic, obviously, but look at this scene- without even realising it, Brian’s expressing disbelief that Rory could ever get a girl like that to marry him. And Amy, being Amy, plays at being Brian’s favourite. Perfect as ever!

I can imagine similar jokey comments heading Rory’s way whenever the three were together- Brian possibly so impressed by Amy he forgot his own son had achieved a lot in life too. (We know that Brian’s never seen Rory’s nursing skills in action.) We know Brian’s comment and any previous comments he may have made about the Amy-Rory marriage were made in jest, but it’s entirely possible they ate away at Rory. What he took from them was almost certainly, “Even my own father doesn’t think I’m worthy of someone as incredible as Amy.” Which is the sort of thing that would mutate over the years, make you insecure and jealous…but more on that later.
