Y’know, back in the prequel days there were pretty much just two things people said regarding Anakin’s characterisation –

One of them was, “Ick, what a creep. Why does he continue to chase Padme after she’s flat-out said he makes her uncomfortable? Doesn’t he have any respect for her at all?”

And the other one was, “Alright, enough of this. When are we going to see Darth Vader actually be evil?”

Without ever making the connection between those two things.
