Some favorite Phantom Menace moments, for no real reason:
Qui-Gon, on the phone with Obes, who he left waiting in the car, ending their conversation with this:
AND THEN HE JUST HANGS UP. HE DOES NOT ELABORATE. At this point Obi-Wan is aware that they’re like, staking a bunch of their plan to get home on this random kid Qui-Gon met, whom Obi-Wan has not even seen yet let alone spoken to, and Qui-Gon just tosses this fairly ominous information at him AND THEN HANGS UP ON HIM.
The Phantom Menace is a goddamn delight, OK.
Also let us recall that at one point Obi-Wan legit throws out selling Padme’s clothes as an option but also inexplicably doubts they’d be worth enough scratch:
I really hope for his sake she never found out about this. Otherwise I’m guessing among the many War Wound Scars Obi-Wan has, he’s now also got one that is the perfect shape of a stiletto heel.
And, fittingly, we learn that the first time Obi-Wan and Anakin entered a room together, it was OF COURSE Dorkily, Dramatically and With Great Haste. They hadn’t even been INTRODUCED YET and they were doing this. MY TINY BABIES:
