Idiocracy
Last night I watched Idiocracy for the first time. Turns out it’s a pro-eugenics movie (and not remotely subtle about it). So between that, this and this, it was, ur, it was a bizarrely pro-eugenics day. What a world.

But anyway – Idiocracy does the same thing most people on Twitter do when talking politics, conflate “stupidity” (itself a deeply loaded concept) for cruelty. The people of the movie’s future-world have no empathy for their fellow humans and enjoy watching state-sponsored murder, which has nothing to do with how smart they are, only how vicious they are. I mean… god, looking at the world, that should be obvious, right? That being stupid and being cruel aren’t the same thing?! Gah, I bet Andrew Sabisky and Richard Dawkins love this movie.
