It’s World Photography Day!
I love photography. But here’s the thing: most of all I love casual photography. Photography that was done with no sense of Serious Art. Someone saw something they loved or thought people would be interested in, grabbed their camera phone and decided to share it with the world. Okay, maybe that’s not “casual” photography at all, who knows, I’m far from a real photographer. But basically what I’m trying to say it, if you gave me a choice between going to a fancy photography exhibit or viewing a slideshow of someone’s holiday photos, I would… probably choose the slideshow in all honesty. I am that rare person who REALLY WANTS to see your holiday photos.
Here’s some of the photos I’ve loved on Reddit’s various photo-posting forums recently. I don’t know if any of the photographers spent a long time getting a shot or if they just pointed and pressed the button. But I don’t care! Somehow they all invoked Feeling in me.

And you know… these are just pictures of random things which probably a lot of people wouldn’t think to photograph. Two of these photos are of service stations for crying out loud! But I love them. I just really, really love that we live in a world where you can point and click without any training whatsoever and just capture something. How you were feeling in a moment of time, or a view you particularly liked, or a colour you noticed. You know?
Happy World Photography Day! Keep photographing.
