Seeing the below post just made me think… how does being mega-rich actually work? Like… do you actually have access to your billions at all times, or do you have to go through some rigmarole every time you want to take out a large sum? If Elon Musk was visited by three spirits and tomorrow decided to donate half his fortune to fixing Flint’s water, could he, or would his bank refuse to let him do it for whatever reason? If Prince Harry wanted to give a million pounds to a homeless guy he saw outside Buckingham Palace on the eve of his wedding, would he even be allowed to by royal advisors etc?
There’s a part of me that really hopes “Oh, all these rich people want to donate money, they just CAN’T!” But I suspect I’m wrong.
