did I write this
I have this article linked with pulled quotes somewhere
it is a True Mission Statement
When I was studying in NYC I ended up on this Mission to find an edible apple and nobody I talked to about it understood because they’d all been raised on Red Delicious and thought that they were normal and that’s what apples were supposed to taste like, and I’d be like “okay but this is just some shredded newspaper soaked in heavily diluted apple juice inside a thick rubber bag” and they’d be like “yeah I mean I’m not a fan of apples either” and I would make Quaintly Distressed English Noises. Anyway, I finally found someone selling Cox’s at the farmers market near Columbia so that’s my New York Hot Tip if you’re a decade-hopping time traveller getting ready to visit NYC in 2008.
Maaaan, it’s especially sad that that’s the case in NYC, since New York State is really good apple country, and I want to be on record defending it as such.
when I moved to Michigan from Southern California and discovered Honeycrisps it was like Idunn herself had gifted me with her apples
It’s weird. When I was a child I LOVED Red Delicious. As an adult, whenever I bite into one it’s like chewing down on polystyrene.
