The problem with shows killing off characters like that … I just stop getting emotionally invested in it. If ~Anyone Could Die~, what’s the point of caring about them and intentionally putting myself in a situation where I’ll end up unhappy and angry? Real life is bad enough that way.
I feel ya. Call the Midwife is usually pretty good at keeping a balance between heartwarming and depressing, only a small handful of main characters have died (probably… actually not a bad ratio for working-class people in ‘50s London :( ) but this series has honest to god been depressing from start to finish, I don’t know what’s happened. It used to be much more upbeat despite always trying to portray the era appropriately.
Game of Thrones and Walking Dead, though, it is my dearest hope that one day they’re remade for a more optimistic age.
