I don’t know much about twitter, but I would guess reporting would be the place to start, even if it turns out not to be very effective? I think engaging is just what they’re after. Urgh.

                       If they’re in your mentions, I think it’s
acceptable to engage, but I recommend just playing twenty questions with
them.  When they accuse you of virtue signalling, ask them how that
makes your argument wrong, even if you assume you’re making that
argument in bad faith/out of a desire to look good.

I made the mistake of going into the tag for Grenfell Tower and saw a bunch of nasty stuff. I did end up reporting a few blogs that were obviously white supremacists or trolls, but who knows what will come of it… I am kinda glad I didn’t engage though.
