I’m sorry, are you trying to stir up some trouble?

The answer is this: because I want to. I love Tumblr, despite all its flaws. It keeps me sane because my Facebook feed is mostly family members who love guns, voted for Trump, and think Roy Moore is a victim. I follow people – friends – I’ve known for decades, back when we used to chat on a Sailor Moon forum, or on LiveJournal. And a lot of the people I follow now are in there 20s and 30s.

There are more of us on Tumblr than you must think.

I see asks like this cropping up time and time again, and it’s like… wtf do these kids think ageing means? That you lose all interest in things you were once passionate about simply because an arbitrary amount of time has passed? That fun, friendship and creativity are No Longer Allowed? If that’s the future you have planned out for yourself, then you have my condolences.

Some of us come here because we are FANS of STUFF and want to have the freedom to discuss FANDOM with other LIKE MINDED PEOPLE and because this is the best medium for doing so, and also because there are OTHER ADULTS HERE TOO AND FFS WE MAKE FRIENDS WITH EACH OTHER.

*shakes cane. kicks kids off lawn*

Here’s the secret, kids: FANDOM DOESN’T HAVE A SELL-BY DATE. You may lose interest in certain fandoms but guess what, other fandoms take their place! And then sometimes you regain interest in old fandoms because time in fandom isn’t linear.

Tumblr isn’t even mostly populated by teenagers if these stats are anything to go by.
