“ugly entitled people” vs. “beautiful entitled people”
the former seems more common, as entitled suggests you’re grasping for what you don’t deserve, and what do ugly people deserve, really.
Reminds me of a study that I became aware of fairly recently –
“Physical attractiveness and nurses’ perceptions of pediatric patients.“
Abstract
66 female nurses answered questions about an
attractive or unattractive 5-yr-old female pediatric patient who was
allegedly involved in a disturbance in a hospital to investigate the
effect of the patient’s attractiveness on Ss’ perceptions of the
disturbance. As each S listened to the account of the disturbance, she
was shown an attractive or unattractive facial photograph of the girl
allegedly involved. Findings reveal that Ss held a patient less
personally responsible for the disturbance, attributed a patient’s
behavior to situational causes, and perceived the attending nurse as
more responsible when the patient was highly attractive. In contrast,
the unattractive patient was judged to be more personally responsible
for the disturbance, her behavior was attributed to her personality, and
she was reported to have a higher probability of emotional problems
than the attractive patient. Results indicate, consistent with the work
of K. Dion (see record 1973-04397-001),
that the patient’s level of physical attractiveness influenced how
nurses assigned responsibility for the alleged disturbance. (14 ref)
