I really wanna make a gifset about how Yondu and Ego serve as foils to each other, but trouble is a lot of that is hard to highlight in gifs-
Like, how Yondu collects little console toys and Ego ‘collects’ ‘toys’ (i.e. women and children) in that trophy room he shows Peter; and Yondu threatens to eat Peter but Ego more or less literally eats children; and Yondu was sold into slavery but Ego keeps a slave (Mantis…)
I’m just not sure it’d be possible without putting a ton of context onto every gif (then again, I’ve seen other gifmakers, especially in the GoT fandom do that…?)
Ohhhhh man, I hadn’t even thought about Ego’s statue room effectively being a trophy room of the women/kids he’s “collected”. Eeuuurrrghhhh. *shudder*
You might be able to do it by contrasting the quotes from Yondu (e.g. “I like to collect them and stick them in a row on my steering console”, “I was a slave for 20 years”, etc.) with the visuals from Ego, of the trophy room, Mantis, etc? I don’t know if that would work though; it might be too subtle for the meaning to come across clearly in a gifset.
That’s one of my ‘favourite’ HEY WAIT A MINUTE sudden realizations from the movie, it’s so creepy when you think about it, bleergh. Especially since none of the statues have real faces…
I *think* I have an idea on how I might do it? It’s a gifset idea I shall ponder for a time, anyway. :)
