How to improve Lie of the Land:
- everything up to the regeneration fakeout is the same but it’s not a trick and Nardole’s not in on it
- Nardole and Bill escape by the skin of their teeth (I don’t care about this plot hole)
- Nardole’s like “tbh vault” which is a bit of character development for him becoming less rigid on the rules
- then we get Missy/Bill/Nardole teamup
Missy wants to kill Bill, Nardole’s like yeah but nah but yeah but nah, and Bill’s like “if I’m part of the transmission can’t I change the transmission?”
- and then they go to the transmitter and same ending except the Doctor doesn’t claim victory
- Also not have the Doctor insult everyone on earth but Bill
So really you just change the middle part and get a significantly better story. Still probably not the absolute best it could be, because more exploration of ideas and less exposition is definitely needed, but still far far better than the actual episode.
