My severe physical disability confines me to my bed completely
and leaves me utterly reliant on care services for food, water and basic hygiene.
For 4 years after becoming disabled, I was denied every government disability
service, unable to seek help from my abusive family, and eventually left reliant
on donations. I need help to apply for services I have long been denied.I’m in the process of being approved for assistive tech
funding and need to pay for a social worker, which will cost $240 because there are 6 month waitlists for a free service. A social worker
is necessary to find a safe occupational therapist (OT) for an obligatory assistive
tech assessment, because I have almost always been physically abused by them. Ex.
– when I complained to a past OT that the tests were extremely painful, she refused
to use more suitable methods, coerced me to continue engaging in harmful tests and
accused me of being seriously mentally ill for experiencing physical pain that
was not visually apparent to her personally. I cannot withstand similar treatment
in my far more fragile condition and I need help to ensure my safety. The
social worker also needs to finalise my disability care funding requests.I have also finally found a GP who can complete medical reports
for vital services rapidly, but this opportunity will be squandered and I will remain
reliant on donations, unless there is assistance from care workers to complete extensive paperwork every day. I am unable to complete this unassisted and also rely completely on care workers for food, water and basic hygiene; donated funds for these are about to completely run out. Partly as a result
of being denied government support for 4 years, my condition has deteriorated to
being completely bedridden, unable to use my arms & hands without agonising
spinal pain and unable to sleep more than 3 hours per night unless heavily medicated.
With 4 weeks left until government funding for disability care is granted, my
condition has never been worse and I need help to pay care workers until this
waiting period concludes. I need to pay $1,080 for care services over a period
of 6 days, and $300 for home care products and for food.
