wouldn’t it be cool if we could like… be ugly… but then…. not be considered subhuman for it

I have written in long detail about my issues with “everyone is beautiful” and this text post summarizes it in 18 words

#we need to expand the definition of what constitutes as beautiful absolutely#but more importantly we need to redefine the VALUE we place on beauty and not make it the be all and end all of existence#because some people don’t fucking want to be beautiful or will NEVER be considered beautiful and don’t want to be fucking patronized by#self congratulatory feel-good ‘everyone is beautiful’ campaigns#when we damn well know that isn’t the case when everywhere around us we’re being told we’re NOT

#yeah man. yeah#like i still believe that there’s value in broadening our cultural concept of beauty bc it is horrifyingly narrow right now#but that will never fix the underlying problem#which is that physical beauty is still like. the number one way we determine people’s (esp. women’s) worth as human beings#and that’s fucked up dude! thats fucked up! no matter how many people you try to “include” in that system it is rotten to the core#just let me be a weird little gremlin! its fine! leave me alone
