Yeah, I was thinking awhile ago (not necessarily tumblr-specific though) about how I’ve definitely seen the idea of taking care of yourself kind of … go off the rails beyond what self-care was originally supposed to mean, to the point of being used as a weird justification for being a selfish, irresponsible asshole.

Yeah. I mean it is different for children and adults, it should be, but honestly there seems to be this weird idea that not necessarily always ‘practising self-care’ is buying into the evils of capitalism/the patriarchy/whatever, when actually, you know..most of the people out there not practising self-care are in that position because they’re parents or carers struggling on low incomes and little help…
