First, I believe that this nation should commit itself to achieving the goal, before this decade is out, of landing a man on the moon and returning him safely to earth.

President John F. Kennedy first announced the goal of landing an American on Moon during a special address to Congress on May 25, 1961. Eight years later on July 20, 1969, @nasa‘s Apollo 11 mission would achieve this goal.
