re: the reylo vs drarry thing, i think the age difference is the biggest factor — kylo ren is a whole 10 years older than rey, at least, which makes everything skeezier. plus, with malfoy, we sort of see him develop from a kind of shitty kid to a scared teenager who’s trying to survive — we haven’t got that kind of sympathetic arc for kylo in the same way. we know that kylo’s been brainwashed, but we didn’t SEE him fall the way we did malfoy. –

I just – can’t bring myself to ever ship Draco with anyone, though? Like, I know he had some character development, but he never stood up and said anything like “…sorry I caused a great deal of distress and harm to you because I was raised amongst horrifying racial purity ideals. Sorry I was classist to you, Ron, sorry I joined the group that were trying to kill your parents, Hermione…”
so it’s just like, he kind of got an almost-redemption without ever apologising? He’s just, un-shippable to me. Then again, Kylo is too. I can’t even ship him with other evil characters like Hux really because at the moment he’s just too much of a kind of entitled, personal evil whilst the others are mostly just standard Evil Archtypes. (Did that make sense?)
