I just realised that the very first time we meet Clara, she’s doing something not reckless exactly, but something she was sort of advised not to do-
GIRL [OC]: Where are you going?
CLARA: Short cut.
GIRL: Through there? I hate this place! Don’t you think it’s creepy?
CLARA: Nah. I don’t believe in ghosts.
(You can say what you want about Clara as a person – if you must – but I’ll always fight for her characterisation being consistent.)
