okay after reading so many of the reactions to “class” on gallifrey base i feel like i’ve had my fair share of “class” related negativity to last me a lifetime, so
yeah, the title is weird
yeah, the description is frustratingly shallow and vague
yeah, it won’t have any clara
BUT.
do you know anything about patrick ness? if not, like me when “class” was announced last night, go read his wikipedia page.
this guy seems amazing.
and have you seen what he tweeted in relation to the show?

that guy’s an outstanding writer. he’ll be the sole writer of the show. he writes dark and emotional. he’s got a lot to prove. if that doesn’t sound promising, i don’t know what does.
let’s give this a chance.I’m beyond excited to have a brand new DW spinoff! I was sure we’d never get one under Moff, so this surprised the hell out of me. The reaction at GB was crap, as usual. They worked themselves into a frenzy thinking it would be a new companion or Moffat leaving. lol No. It was way too soon for a new companion announcement and the twitter feed stressed the announcement was positive so of course they weren’t going to say Moffat leaving was a great thing, no matter what the Moffat haters think.
I am excited for Ness as a new writer for televised stories. The setting is maybe not my first choice (I would’ve rather had River or the Paternosters), but it’s not a bad setting and I was even saying some time ago that “The Caretaker” sets Coal Hill up as a perfect alien hot spot. The only thing I’m not keen on (aside from no Clara when Clara and Coal Hill work so well together) is the lack of diversity in writers. I think Ness will be great, don’t get me wrong, but we’re still not getting any female and/or POC voices and that’s the biggest downside for me. I sincerely hope that if it gets a second season, they bring in new diverse writers and allow Ness to be lead writer.
