To all you Ward Warriors, I have to say…

themattress:

I get it.

I totally understand where you’re coming from.  You empathized with a character who was villainous but nonetheless came from a tragic, abusive background.  You really wanted to see him redeem himself for the sins he committed as a result of that background, to recover and find happiness.  And I know that desire, as I have had it too when it came to certain characters in stories that I’ve followed in the past.

Sometimes, I get my wish and they are redeemed.

Other times, they end up letting me down.

And sometimes, they’re left without redemption in one version but are granted it in another.

In any case, I feel your pain, Ward Warriors.

BUT.

When a villain clearly isn’t going to seek redemption, even if you disagree with the writers’ choice to make that the case, you have to ACCEPT THAT.  You have to either stop watching the media product altogether or stick with it while resinging yourself to the villain’s fate (maybe you could even jump fence and root for their downfall, that’s what I did when it came to most of the bastards and bitches who let me down!)

You do NOT continue to harass the cast, crew and writers to cater to your preferences when they have clearly shown that they don’t want to do so, and you do NOT continue to make up excuses for the villain and whitewash him and argue with other fans who are actually accepting the canonical fact that he’s an irredeemable villain!  This is Draco in Leather Pants syndrome run wild and it doesn’t help anyone, especially you since it makes you look like an ass!

Ward is a villain. His abusive backstory and the issues it has given him doesn’t mean he’ll find redemption, and it’s clear from both the show and the people who are making it that he won’t. If you really want to Stand with Ward, then there is only one proper way to do so:
