The garden at Rue Plumet
There’s so much I love about this— an Eponine who’s really in tatters, the implied ignorance of Marius and Cosette in their little garden— but I think what’s really standing out for me here is the fence, laying its ornamental circles over the lovers’ faces. It reminds me of those touristy photo-frame things, where anyone can put their faces into the scene and pretend to be part of it, and it’s so obvious that’s what Eponine’s doing. What an excellent concept!
