Doctor Who: Nightmare in Silver
I miss the days when we had two-part finales…
Okay, what’ve we got?
The Doctor: AAAAAHH Matt got to play two characters once again and knocked it out of the park. I saw people moaning about his acting in this episode and just…?????? Also ‘You will die pointlessly and very far from home’ was a fabulous and fabulously delivered line
Clara: Excellent as usual and I loved her take-charge attitude, and now she’s joined the club (I believe) of Companions Welding Big Laser Guns
The kids: A bit CBBC but that actually works? Doctor Who is still basically for kids, or it should be, and it’s good for kids to see people their own age solving stuff and wanting to rule space etc. And I like the glimpses into companion’s everyday life? And I like that Angie was mistaken for Clara’s sister, because I kinda want to know more about the relationship between them…
The supporting cast: Warwick Davies was excellent and I hope we see him again actually. I can’t remember the blonde woman’s name and I suspect that’s probably because she wasn’t that memorable…
The story: Kinda like Dalek but with Cybermen? Also OH MY GOD WHAT A WASTE OF A SETTING, it was in a THEME PARK and no-one got to crash a rollercoaster into anything or jump down a ferris wheel or ANYTHING
In conclusion: It was mostly good but I suspect the finale will be the deciding factor in whether I liked this series overall or not

People are complaining about Matt’s acting??? Warwick Davies was great as the surprise emperor. And the blond soldier lady character was called Alice Ferry. I actually rather liked her and her platoon–they didn’t look like just “generic lot of soldiers,” so that was neat.

True, I liked them being a ‘punishment patrol’. (They reminded me of one of the groups you run into in Fallout: New Vegas, actually…) I couldn’t believe it either! But Gallifrey Base was full of people calling Matt’s acting in this episode the worst since the series started. :(
