So, I just got back from POTC 2. Well, got back a couple of hours ago. Several hours ago.
Have been reading meta for about a hour, and have decided I love this movie. There’s actually a hell of a lot going on in it- more than anyone usually expects of a big blockbuster movie. (This is why you should listen to the fans and not the critics. Well, in most cases. ;) )
I would also like to say I love Will a lot. He even edges out Jack. He’s just so bloody decent and hot. At the end, in addition to saving his father, is he going to bring Jack back for Elizabeth? Cos if so, whoa.
Speaking of Elizabeth, I was utterly shocked by the Big Thing that happened at the end and I really want everything to be resolved by POTC 3. A happy ending? C’mon, Disney, you’re…well, Disney. You can’t let me down now.
I was spoiled for Barbossa’s return…in a movie magazine, of all things…and am rather annoyed about that, because it would have been a hell of a surprise if I hadn’t known. Bah.
I also love love love the idea of a compass that points to the thing you’re looking for/the thing your heart wants. I want one. Er, yes.
In short…roll on Pirates 3.

They really should have checked where the compass pointed in the first movie before adding that plot twist…

Are you talking about the position Norrington has it at, or another?

omg the compass is absolutely the most wonderful thing in the entire world. Like I said before, the movie is killer when you really look at it. Omg I love Will too!! He’s so very… endearingly… just… like sickeningly good. But in my eyes Elizabeth even beats out Jack as a character. It’s like she’s so trapped in this world of fancy-smancy society and she just wants to be free (btw, I’ve watched the entire first movie with pen and paper in hand to like totally analyze her, I’ve gone insaaane!) but the fact that… oh well nevermind, I’ll go on for ages. I just love that little compass. *hugs it* I need to go see it again. Like… now. And catch the things I didn’t catch before.

I know! The meta is lovely. There will be a happy ending, unless they do what someone said they might, in which case several thousand fangirls will cry out for blood. However, they’re Ted and Terry. I want that sort of compass, yes.

I’m afraid I’m not part of the Orlando camp at all. Out of the five of us who went to see PotC2 last night, only one of us loved Orlando – and it wasn’t me. The rest of us put Depp on a pedestal, and two of us (me included) think Rush is sheer brilliance. (Not in this particular film, of course, but in general. ^_~) And the “thing at the end” surprised me totally – I was like “wow”. Elizabeth has shot up in my expectation’s list! ^_~ I’ve got a feeling things will be resolved, as far as that goes, in PotC3 because this is a Hollywood film series, and (like you say) is also Disney – but I am so shipping *that* pairing. :) With Barbossa back for the next haul, as well as there being so many other things left to be resolved, I simply can’t wait to see number three. Just bring it. XD

This is probably the only upcoming film sequel (and a Disney one at that!) where I geniunely can’t guess what happens next. They all did a pretty good job on this one, I reckon. ;) Am looking very forward to seeing Rush in the next film: he’s so fantastically evil. XD
