(no subject)
I really really really really really want to do that donate-and-I’ll-make-you-an-icon thing, but I want to make sure I do it right- does anyone know exactly how it works? Or is it just exactly what I’ve said- someone posts and says I’ve donated, can I have a Ani/Padme icon please? Because it’s not that I don’t trust most everyone around here, it’s just…if there’s more secure way to do it (with paypal or something?) I’d rather do that…

Okay- never mind. Let’s get this thing started now. (Thanks, eldritchhobbit :D)I already know a few communities I could link this to- sm_movieverse for one, and also sw_awards with the poll tomorrow.
What I can do:
Icons– obviously. I can easily do Star Wars, Harry Potter, Spider-Man, Holes, LOTR, Doctor Who, ASOUE, Thunderbirds, POTC, Pokemon, Digimon, and virtually any recent movie. Or provide a cap and some text and I’ll make it from that. :) I’m thinking $1 an icon? If you want to see examples of them, just glance around my journal.
Fanfic– The same, pretty much. The only catch here is that genfic is the only thing I’m good at, and I’d rather not do anything over NC-17. And the going rate appears to be $1 per 100 words, so let’s stick with that.
Transcripts– like what I did here, except I can do pretty much any movie from the DVD list. If you want the whole movie, I’m thinking $20?
Screencaps-anything from the DVD list. $1 a screencap, or the entire movie for $20.
Mood themes– these take awhile, for me at least, so $15 for one of this, okay? Bear in mind that they’re usually pretty high quality- there’s some in the memories if you want to take a look.
As for charities: I’m thinking the American Red Cross. Or anywhere of your choice- but like eldritchhobbit said, can you provide a receipt? And my email address is pokeprincess_sarah@hotmail.com.

I don’t know how the bigger communities are doing it, but I’ve seen individual icon-makers ask for Paypal receipts to be emailed to them as proof of donation. That seems totally reasonable to me. And that’s a lovely thing for you to consider doing. *huge hugs*

*hugs* Thank you so much! I am going to throw a few things out here. Please don’t feel obligated to do them all, okay? Thanks! First of all, your other post reminded me of how much I love Love, Actually. I would really like a Billy Mack icon – no text needed. He’s such a great character. Is that OK? Second, The Lion in Winter is my favorite film of all time. I’d love an icon of Geoffrey, preferably with the line “The Mention I Miss” in it. There are tons of pictures of the character here. Some of my favorites (I don’t know if any of these would work for this) are here, here, and here. But any of the images on the page would be great. My other requests are for HP icons. I’d love a good icon of Dumbledore (the Richard Harris version, please). No text is necessary at all, but if you think it needs it, something like “my mercy” (from the line “It is my mercy, and not yours, that matters now”) or “the choice between what is easy and what is right” or something along those lines, whatever you think is best, please. I’d also love an icon of Arthur Weasley. I don’t think he always gets the recognition and respect he deserves, and I think he’s such a marvellous character. Again, textless is fine. Last, you’ve done some fantastic icons with just characters juxtaposed – my favorite is the one with Lupin, Black, and Snape. I’d love one with Snape and Dumbledore (the Richard Harris Dumbledore, please). Textless is great. I’m of the not-always-popular opinion that Snape is “Dumbledore’s man through and through,” and I’d like to see an icon that shows that connection. If you need text, I guess “trust” or something like that… you’re so good at these things, I’ll just leave it to you. Let me know if anything I said doesn’t make sense. :) I’ll email you my receipt in the next five minutes. (The amount doesn’t reflect the number of icons – no worries.) Many thanks!

Okey dokey, I’m not gonna be a stickler for the number of icons, since it’s the donation that’s the important part. ^_~ I’ll just throw some ideas out and leave it to your discretion. (All SW-related, btw.) First idea: Turning points (What doesn’t kill us makes us stronger) Three part-blends of characters; from beginning, their turning point, and their end. I just like the idea of showing that moment when people have a choice to give up or to do something extraordinary. Second idea: Become the… (text with unique croppings on pics) Hero: Screaming Luke when Ben dies. Martyr: Shmi when Anakin leaves. Mentor: Obi-Wan at Qui-Gon’s funeral. Villain: (if you have images) Anakin pledging his allegiance to Sidious, otherwise just Anakin’s entry to the Jedi temple Or any others for the other characters that you can think of, since my brain’s suddenly gone to mush. (I need coffee, aaah!) Third idea: Something spiffy/clever/shiny/whatever with any of these… (Gah, I’m such a ferret) Creation of

What an amazing and kind idea! I’m going to link you to my LJ in my growing list of Hurricane Katrina information! Your icon work is lovely! Hmm…I don’t have a receipt yet, but I do have the form I filled out to authorize my company to take money out of my paychecks that will go the American Red Cross (Hot Topic, btw, and the company is matching employee donations dollar-for-dollar). If you’re inspired with better set-ups than what I describe in my requests, go for it. You’ve got quite a handle on icons–I especially like the fading and blending, and the fact you manage to use small fonts that are still by-and-large readable. 1. I love the triptych work you did in ‘s first two icons. If you could do this with PoA/GoF Harry, Ron, and Hermione all looking straight ahead and particularly determined, I’d like that with the text We’ll fight till hell freezes over and then write on the ice, “Come on, you bastards.” 2. Batman Begins: text “I want my ten minutes back” with an angry, peevish, or otherwise irritated Batman. That’s a reference to current comic book continuity. Destined to be my all-around “wtf?!?” icon. 3. Snape. I adore him. Remember the scene in…CoS is it, when he’s sitting in his office looking over the newspaper and (rightfully) giving Harry and Ron the third degree? I’d love to have that image iconed, but I’m unsure of what snarky text should be included. Use your best judgment, or if you think it’s better without, that’s fine too. 4. Jedi Master Shaak Ti with the text “It is the individual’s task to differentiate himself from all the others…” 5. It’s another HP icon! I’d like the four Heads of House (McGonagall, Snape, Flitwick, Sprout) and Dumbledore in the middle (Harris) in five panels–which I realise will make them small, but that’s fine, and in fact if you find this looks better when only one of their eyes are visible or whatnot, go for it!–with the text “A teacher affects eternity; he can never tell where his influence stops.” As I mentioned in my e-mail to you I’d like a mood theme (as I’ve never had one before), but I’m unsure of exactly what. ^_^;;; Thank you once again!
