But think about this, okay? Their heaven (all of the barricade boys) is what they wanted most- a France that is free. So heaven is what you want most. It’s obvious what Grantaire would want: to be someone Enjolras could be proud of, respect, and love, and that’s what he is here, waving a flag at the top of the barricade. But look at Enjolras’s heaven: standing atop his barricade, looking out over his beloved land…with Grantaire at his side.

He didn’t just permit Grantaire to die at his side, but to live there for eternity.
