Okay but like—couldn’t Mantis go up, place a hand on Thanos and make him sleep? Why—not just do that?
Perhaps the difficulty would be reaching him in the first place? Or they believe the dude is too powerful (especially with the Infinity Stones) for it to be work – just as Mantis believed she couldn’t make Ego fall asleep before she got encouraged, and even then she had to apparently use quite a lot more power than usually.
(Though, honestly, that question popped up for me, too.)
