It’s insane the mass media isn’t covering the pro Palestine protests. I’m not surprised but still shocked. We had an estimated 20,000 people in Chicago the other day and shut down a major road and no word about it?
there was a pro-palestine protest of 1 MILLION in turkey on the 28th, if im not mistaken. not a single word of it. the bigger it is, the more they will try to keep it from reaching those it could inspire.
The ups side to all of this is we live in the age of social media and can spread the word among ourselves.
So for those reading this post either not alive or too young to view the news during the early 2000s in America, this exact thing happened.
Prior to the US launching the Iraq invasion, there were ongoing and massive antiwar protests in the US, Europe, Asia, Middle East, etc. Thr weekend of February 16-17, 2003 between 6 and 10 million people marched in over 600 cities across the world. Half a million people protested in NYC alone.
Most of them got zero news coverage or maybe a two-second mention in between more bullshit lies about how Iraq had WMDs. And if the marches were mentioned, they discussed the one match out of dozens that went bad or ended up clashing with the cops. Or the newscasters just in general talked down to the protesters, calling them anti-american or whatever.
Not covering the anti-war protests or painting them entirely in a negative light is a tried n true method of propaganda for the government and mainstream news outlets. Combine that with newsrooms firing anyone who so much as brings up the words Ceasefire or views Palestine in a positive light, and its no surprise you aren’t hearing anything from the mainstream media outlets. (With the notable exception of AL Jazeera obviously.)
So yeah, this has happened before and will likely happen again. They don’t want a competing voice, only the constant baying for blood and death.
