if your job is any way involved in the erosion of user-friendly functionality of social platforms in order to appease some random monthly metric or drive up revenue or something equally lower in priority than the actual fucking user experience then I hope you get cursed with an itchy penis in public forever

Who in the hot fuck was asking for posts to be changed so that
instead of clicking on a user’s handle to see a post on their blog, it
just drops you off at page one. Now to find said post you have to either comb their archive (unreliable, invasive), try a search (LAUGHABLY BAD) or scroll their blog endlessly til you happen across it. And of course none of these things are worth the effort to just reblog random shit online, so now content gets less circulation! Who was that feature hurting,
other than maybe the people who add really inane commentary in their reblogs that the rest of us have to try and work around. Even Twitter lets you click a tweet and see it in its original context, and their CEO wishes everyone on the platform funnier than him was dead

Totally agree, the fact this is hidden is fucking maddening and terrible UI design

BUT

the feature does still exist:

Click the three dots on the post, then this timestamp. Takes you direct to the post on the blog.

Have fun out there y’all

Once again the day is saved mitigated from any further horrors by its blessed userbase

EDIT: this fix only works for the OP on your feed, so if you’re trying to get to any other versions on the reblog chain you’re still humped :(

using their idea to provide screenshots!

don’t know how i figured this one out, but if you click the blank space to the right of the username, it will open that version of the post. but it will only open in this particular view, and won’t open in a new tab.
