From the International Bird Rescue – L.A. Wildlife Center:

Look who just flew in from Oregon!

Back in early March, a lost, wet, and bedraggled Brown Booby was found at South Beach in Newport Oregon. It was brought in to our friends at Oregon Coast Aquariumwhere it recuperated under their attentive care for about a month. This week the Booby was transferred to us at Bird Rescue so that we can release it closer to its natural range. We successfully picked it up at LAX and are working on getting a few good meals in its belly before release.

Update: the little booby has been released! From the International Bird Rescue – L.A. Wildlife Center:

Today we are happy to report that the Brown Booby that began its journey up in Oregon was successfully released this afternoon. After briefly surveying its surroundings, it took to the sky and quickly flew out of sight. We wish it the best of luck on its journey home. Thank you to our friends at the Oregon Coast Aquarium for all the excellent work they did in getting the booby here and to our staff and volunteers who took good care of the bird during its stay in California.

hello, boobie
