You can tell when a media franchise truly resonates with today’s youth because somebody’s done an AMV set to Thirty Seconds to Mars’ “This Is War”.

(I half-suspect the reason it’s so popular is that, apart from the whole song being one big cresendo, it’s also basically the lyrical equivalent of a D&D alignment grid. Depending on how you slice it, the lyrics give you anywhere from eleven to fourteen archetypal/mythic roles to slot various cast members into – you can very nearly construct a psychological profile of somebody based on who they put where, particularly for the “Victim” and “Pariah” lines!)
