Oh, you mean Clara? I (mostly) like the Clara arc, if only because it ends with her being functionally immortal.
But I do think it’s high time the showrunners retired the ‘will the companion DIE’ tease that’s accompanied damn near every season finale so far.
I mean, that’s been a feature since the reboot started. Rose nearly died at the end of S1 and then the whole finale of S2 was all about “this is the story of how I died”. Donna’s ‘death’ was teased for at least two episodes. River started out by dying. I can’t see Chibnall changing the formula that much because it continues to bring in viewers.
True, but… that actually kinda makes me feel even more like it’s probably time to retire it? I guess I’d just kinda like the plots to shift more towards “what will the companion do with her life once she leaves the TARDIS?” and less “what horrible near-death (or actual death) experience will make the companion leave the TARDIS?”
