What on earth is the context that has people applauding this?
Considering the show so far has really been almost entirely about the ways in which men can hurt women, I definitely don’t think we’re meant to applaud this, no.
(I also think Hardy’s refusal to honor his daughter’s choices is absolutely going to come back to haunt him.)
