I’d like to take a moment to remind everyone that despite paying US taxes and many serving in the US military, the citizens of Puerto Rico, Guam, American Samoa, the U.S. Virgin Islands and the Northern Mariana Islands have no electoral votes. Still, despite their vote not counting, many of them show up to vote anyway, which just breaks my heart.
And they have a “representative” who gets to speak for them in the House of Representatives but cannot vote and they have no representation in the Senate. Imperialism is alive and well.
